Liverpool look set to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara in this summer's transfer window.

But the Reds may have to part company with some first-team stars in order to balance the books amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Thiago's contract is winding down in Germany, and he has been in discussions with the Reds over a €35million (£31.5m) switch.

According to Spanish publication SPORT, Liverpool would rather spread the payments out to sign Thiago, rather than part with one lump sum.

Like most clubs, Liverpool have felt the impact of the global pandemic, which forced them to give up on trying to sign Timo Werner, despite being favourites to do so.
