Liverpool have been linked with a surprise move for unhappy Chelsea left-back Ashley Cole according to the Daily Express. The 33 year old has been dropped by Jose Mourinho in recent weeks and will be out of contract at the end of the season and is unlikely to be offered a new deal with the Blues boss said to be unhappy that the England man opted to attend the Arsenal Christmas party earlier this week. Though a move for Cole wouldn’t adhere to Liverpool’s youthful transfer policy one would imagine that Brendan Rodgers would be willing to make an exception in order to land the top quality full-back. Youngster John Flanagan has done well in recent weeks, replacing Spaniard Jose Enrique, though Cole would be seen as a marked improvement in the left-back role and a new challenge may well tempt the Chelsea man though there are bound to be offers from across Europe for the former Arsenal man.
