Liverpool will consider an ambitious move for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema – if the club qualify for the Champions League at the end of the season. Reds boss Brendan Rodgers has already confirmed his intention to sign ‘world class’ talent if the club finish in the top four – and Benzema is believed to have emerged as a realistic option. According to Marca, Liverpool have been informed by a third party agent that he would consider departing Madrid at the end of the season – and Rodgers is intrigued by the prospect of being able to pair him with Luis Suarez. The Anfield club would face competition from a host of other European sides, including Arsenal and Manchester City, but the belief is that Liverpool could put together an attractive proposal. Benzema has failed to win the full respect of Madrid fans since his transfer from Lyon, and despite the club selling Gonzalo Higuain in the summer in a bid for him to become the club’s main striker, many believe he has not delivered enough.
