Liverpool are in "very concrete discussions" over a move for Lille star Nicolas Pepe according to a journalist in France.

However, the club themselves have distanced themselves from those reports and are said to be "furious" with what they have called "pure lies".

The Reds have long been linked with a move for the 24-year-old, but with the European champions not expected to do much business this summer then the reports that they were looking at the Ivory Coast international have been considered to be wide of the mark.

But in an interview with the Get French Football News website, RMC Sport's Mohamed Bouhafsi claimed that Jurgen Klopp's side have firm interest in a forward who scored 23 goals last season and could seemingly cost upwards of £70million.
