LIVERPOOL and Tottenham have distanced themselves from Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes, paving the way for Manchester United to complete a deal.
Fernandes scored 31 goals from midfield last season, skippering Sporting to two domestic cups.
The Portugal international, who helped his country to the Nations League trophy in early June, has four years left on his contract, and is worth in the region of £62.2m (€70m).
United showed interest in the playmaker earlier this summer and have held informal meetings with Fernandes’ agent Miguel Pinho in London, according to ESPN.
They were part of a packed field chasing the 24-year-old but now appear to be in pole position because Manchester City, Tottenham and Liverpool have ostensibly distanced themselves from a move.
