Manchester City and Liverpool are set to go head-to-head to land Sevilla star Diego Carlos.
The Premier League rivals are both keen on signing the defender and could find themselves locked in a battle to land him in the summer transfer window.
There is no love lost between the Premier League giants following a turbulent season that has seen Jurgen Klopp's men dethrone City as English champions.
To make matters worse Pep Guardiola accused the Reds earlier this month of stabbing his club in the back by joining a group of nine that wrote to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) demanding City not be allowed to take part in next season's Champions League if their appeal against a European ban from Uefa couldn't be dealt with in time.
Guardiola reckons the Reds were part of a whispering campaign against City and demanded his club receive an apology.
But nothing has been forthcoming and now it seems the English giants are on another collision course over Carlos.
