The Detroit Lions' roster wasn't at 90 players for long. That's because they released quarterback Alex Carder on Wednesday afternoon, once again bringing them down to 89 players, one short of the 90-man limit. Carder, who joined the Lions in late April as an undrafted free agent out of Western Michigan, became the odd man out after the team claimed Thaddeus Lewis off waivers on Tuesday. The Lions decided to add Lewis after he was let go by the Cleveland Browns last week, and he looks like he could challenge Kellen Moore for the third quarterback job.
