If Indians shortstop Francisco Lindor’s last trip around the bases went well, he’s expected to join Class AAA Columbus on Sunday to begin his rehab assignment.
“Frankie ran the bases today for the second day in a row,” said manager Terry Francona, before Saturday night’s game against the Royals. “He’ll come work out tomorrow just to make sure there are no ill effects. . . . no repercussions for the second day workout. Then when we head to Seattle, he may head to Louisville, that’s where Columbus will be.
“But we want him to go through a workout tomorrow just to make sure everyone agrees it’s the right thing to do."
Columbus opens a three-game series against Louisville on Monday.
Lindor, a three-time All-Star, missed all of spring training with a strained right calf. Just as he was putting the calf injury behind him, he sprained his left ankle late in spring training.
