Jon Lester will get the next eight days off. Last night, he looked like he could use every one of them. The purported ace of the Red Sox [team stats] staff got himself lacerated once again, this time by the AL East-leading New York Yankees. Lester allowed nine hits and five runs (four earned) in just 41/3 innings before being pulled trailing byt three runs in what would eventually become a 7-3 loss at Fenway Park [map] that left the Sox with their worst first-half record in 14 years — and Lester with his first losing one in a season's first half in his career.
