The mother of Leroy Sane is holding up his new Manchester City deal, according to reports.

Regina Weber, an Olympic bronze medallist in 1984, has 'proved obstructive' as the Premier League leaders try and secure the German star to a new long-term deal.

According to the Daily Mail, Sane's father Souleymane Sane, a former Senegal striker, usually acts as his agent along with intermediaries - but former West Germany gymnast Weber has become involved in talks this time around.

City have been trying to tie Sane down since last summer, with his current deal expiring in 2021.

The club expect Sane to sign a new deal, while the winger has always maintained that Manchester feels like "home".

Sane has been in and out of Pep Guardiola's team this season but at 23, he is one of City's most prized assets.
