The Los Angeles Lakers have made it clear that once the right situation comes around that they’ll be parting ways with Luol Deng one way or another. Deng wants out of Los Angeles because he’s fallen out of Luke Walton’s rotation and even though both sides want to make this happen, it may not be that easy with all the money left on the veteran’s contract. According to Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report, the Lakers may have to sweeten the deal in order to move Deng with the addition of Julius Randle and a draft pick. “I would say a [first-round pick] with a good chance to convey in the lottery,” said an executive with another franchise. “I would say that’s in addition to Julius Randle unless the protections were very favorable to the receiving team.” If the Lakers brass intends to clear as much cap space as possible in order to sign one or two superstar-caliber players in NBA free agency next summer, the team will need to part with Deng and Randle will likely be on his way out as well.
