Kylian Mbappe has admitted he thought he’d stay at Monaco this season before ultimately sealing a shock transfer to Ligue 1 rivals Paris Saint-Germain. The 18-year-old was unveiled by his new club today after joining on an initial loan which will become permanent in a £166million deal next season, having also been linked with the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City and Real Madrid. Regarded as perhaps the most exciting young player on the planet, Mbappe attracted plenty of interest over the summer but failed to get a move until late on, joining PSG just before the international break. Without giving a reason, the France international admits that he didn’t see himself moving this summer until something changed his mind.
