When Kyle Walker-Peters was loaned out during the January window, Tottenham Hotspur fans may have been forgiven for assuming that his career with the club may be coming to an end.
The 23-year-old has produced some fantastic displays for Spurs. But it is perhaps telling that neither Mauricio Pochettino or Jose Mourinho seemed to feel that he was ready for a prolonged chance in the first-team.
It would perhaps therefore, be a surprise if he found himself in Mourinho’s plans next season.
But based on his latest performance out on loan, perhaps it is fair to say that he could still prove to be incredibly useful to Tottenham – even if his future does lie elsewhere.
Walker-Peters was outstanding in Southampton’s win over Manchester City on Sunday. He dealt with the likes of Raheem Sterling and Phil Foden excellently.
He also demonstrated the potential he possesses when pushing further forward.
