Former Toronto Raptors star Kyle Lowry was worried that he would have a DeMar DeRozan-type of divorce with the Raptors.
In July 2018, Toronto sent DeRozan to the San Antonio Spurs in exchange for Kawhi Leonard. The latter only spent one year in Toronto before signing with the Los Angeles Clippers, but led the Raptors to their first championship in franchise history, winning his second Finals MVP award in the process.
In a recent sitdown with Draymond Green for Bleacher Report, DeRozan shed light on how he learned he’d been traded.
“Two days,” said DeRozan. “It was two days. I went to Vegas. We all met. We had a f–ing dinner y’know and have a sit-down, have a conversation about like, all right, we about to do this thing. We’re about to give it another shot, blah, blah, blah.”
