The push to send Royals left fielder Alex Gordon to the All-Star Game fell short Thursday when Chicago first baseman Paul Konerko gained the last spot on the American League team through the Final Vote competition. "I was just happy to be up for it," Gordon said. "Maybe next year. It was fun. It was good to see the support from my teammates, especially Ned and the coaches. They were really pushing for me." Detroit catcher/designated hitter Victor Martinez finished second, followed by Gordon, Baltimore outfielder Adam Jones and Tampa Bay utilityman Ben Zobrist.
