The Minnesota Twins selected St. Pius pitcher Kohl Stewart with the No. 4 pick in the first round. Stewart, who grew up in Tomball, was a two-sport star at St. Pius High School and signed a football scholarship agreement in February with Texas A&M, where he also hopes to play baseball. Stewart has played for the Banditos Baseball select team program since age 7 and was part of an under-13 team that won 155 consecutive games. He was named this month as Gatorade’s Texas high school player of the year for his 5-1 record, 0.18 ERA and 10 homers for St. Pius. In football, he won the Touchdown Club of Houston’s private school player of the year award and in three years as a starter threw for 8,803 yards and 87 touchdowns at St. Pius.
