Linebacker Geno Hayes joined the long list of Jaguars players who will be unable to finish the season when he was shut down Thursday because of a knee injury. Also ruled out was cornerback Dwayne Gratz, who sustained a high left ankle sprain against Tennessee. Hayes said he will have arthroscopic surgery “as soon as possible.” He had been playing with the injury for most of the season’s second half but when he was unable to effectively move from side to side during a pregame workout last Sunday, he was done. “Of course, it’s hard, but it’s a smart decision to take care of the body and get ready to start the off-season full-go without being held back on anything,” Hayes said. “It built up as the season went along and I’ve been playing with it for awhile. “When the body says, ‘Can’t do it,’ you have to go with the body.”
