The long-awaited free agency summer of 2019 became a lot more interesting when Kevin Durant went down in Game 5 of the NBA Finals on Monday night, suffering what is believed to be a torn Achilles.
Prior to the injury, it was almost a foregone conclusion that the 10-time All-Star would opt out of his final year with the Golden State Warriors to test the free agent waters. However, early buzz following the shocking news suggested that the injury could force KD to opt in and remain in Oakland while captaining his own recovery.
But Adrian Wojnarowski isn't buying it. During an appearance on ESPN's Get Up, Woj coined Durant's chances of opting in as a "last resort," saying the superstar would only do so if he couldn't find another team to commit to him on a long-term contract.
