Kansas State sophomore forward Isaiah Maurice has been dismissed from the basketball team for a violation of team rules, the school announced Thursday. The school’s news release did not specify Maurice’s violation. “There are standards of conduct required to be a member of our program, and there are consequences when those standards aren’t met,” coach Bruce Weber said in the release. “Isaiah did not meet his responsibilities, and unfortunately this is the result.” Maurice, 6-foot-10, averaged 3.0 points as a redshirt freshman last season. He talked recently about adding weight to better compete against Big 12 competition, and made a trip to Europe with an Athletes in Action team comprised of other college players including Wichita State’s Zach Brown and Baylor teammates Tyson Jolly and Wendell Mitchell. Maurice scored 13 points in each of the final two games of the five-game trip. In December, Maurice was suspended by Weber for “violations of departmental policy,” Weber said then in a statement. Maurice missed three games before being reinstated for the Jan. 3 game at Kansas.
