The Kansas City Chiefs have released running back C.J. Spiller, per a report from Terez Paylor of the Kansas City Star. This marks the fourth time the Chiefs have released Spiller. The Chiefs originally signed him to a one-year deal in February, then released him at the end of the preseason in order to have a spot on the roster for cornerback Steven Nelson, who was to be placed on injured reserve but needed to be on the roster during 53-man cuts in order to be eligible to return later this season.
