Chris Kaman is another of nine Mavericks in the final year of their contracts, or entering an option year. Kaman declined to make himself available to the media after Thursday’s exit meetings, which could be an indication that his meeting didn’t go well. Kaman is scheduled to become a free agent, while point guard Darren Collison will be a restricted free agent. That means Collison can sign an offer sheet with another team, but the Mavericks would have the ability to match the offer and keep him. Collison believed he would be a full-time starter but wound up starting 47 games. Would he mind returning to Dallas in a reserve role? “I’m not going to say no, because I definitely experienced it, and I’m capable of playing off the bench,” Collison said. “At the same time, I just know who I am as a person and as a player. I know I’m capable of playing for any team as a starter.”
