James van Riemsdyk will undergo surgery to repair a broken bone in his left foot on March 6 and is expected to miss four to six weeks, according to Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren. Van Riemsdyk suffered the broken foot in the first period of the Flyers' 6-3 victory over the New York Islanders on Thursday, while blocking a shot from the point by Islanders defenseman Milan Jurcina (see story). Orthopedic surgeon Dr. Steven Raikin "will put a plate in" van Riemsdyk's foot during surgery "to help with the healing process," Holmgren said.
