Despite the arrival of Timo Werner and the presence of leading goalscorer Tammy Abraham, it is expected that our World Cup-winning striker, Olivier Giroud will stay for the season as well. He’s said so himself, repeatedly, while also agreeing to sign a one-year contract extension back in May.

Giroud, once dubbed the “best target man in the world” by Eden Hazard, offers qualities that none of our other centre forwards do — which he himself has pointed out as well — and he more than staked his claim with a strong showing towards the end of last season, when he scored 7 goals in 10 Premier League appearances during Project Restart.

However, according to Gianluca Di Marzio, Juventus have put Giroud’s name on their shortlist, and Chelsea have apparently set a paltry asking price of just €5m (a figure that was also reported in the Inter Milan version of this story two months ago).
