Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander led a successful Twitter campaign to get catcher Alex Avila voted onto the American League All-Star team. Now Verlander is focusing on Victor Martinez, who is one of five players eligible for the All-Star Game final vote. Verlander was coy about his plans for Martinez's Twitter campaign. "We'll find out," he said with a grin. "To be announced." Shortly after reporters cleared the room, Verlander announced a "strategy meeting at campaign headquarters" and then posted this on Twitter: "Someone come up with a #votevictor twitter avatar for the campaign. Winner gets a signed baseball." Every year there are snubs, and this year there are some big names that didn't make the rosters. St. Louis slugger Albert Pujols and Seattle rightfielder Ichiro Suzuki are not on the team for the first time in their careers, from 2001 to 2010.
