Braves outfielder Justin Upton left Thursday night's game against the Indians after taking a Ubaldo Jimenez fastball to the left hand. The pitch was clocked at 92 mph by the PitchFX system. Upton spent a few minutes being checked out by the trainer and at one point started walking towards first base but they pulled him from the game. Upton 26 went into the game hitting .261/.354/.475 (124 OPS+) with 24 home runs. The Braves lost Jason Heyward to a broken jaw after he was hit by a pitch a few weeks ago so they could be down two starting outfielders. Atlanta came into Thursday with 13-game lead in the NL East so the decision to pull Upton may have just been precautionary. The team has not released an official update.
