If it’s the Monday before training camps open, then the NHL’s rumor mill must be cranked up to full speed. However, there is more than just idle speculation about a trade that would send defenseman Justin Faulk to the Ducks from the Carolina Hurricanes, according to a league source.
A trade for Faulk has been “intensely discussed,” according to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman, who broke the news Monday morning. The Southern California News Group later confirmed the talks were ongoing, hinging on Faulk’s desire for a contract extension in order to waive his no-trade clause.
The Ducks are not among the 15 teams on Faulk’s approved trade list.
Faulk is a right handed-shooting defenseman who would double the Ducks’ total to two. Presently, Josh Manson is the only right-handed shot in their defense corps. Jacob Larsson and Josh Mahura shifted from the left to the right side during Rookie Faceoff games over the weekend.
