Miami Dolphins coach Brian Flores named Ryan Fitzpatrick the starter at quarterback for his team in Week on Thursday night, giving the veteran the nod over Josh Rosen, a second-year QB.
Rosen addressed the situation after the Dolphins' final preseason game Thursday.
"I think I've just got to play football like I know how to play football," Rosen said, via CBS Sports. "In our discussion when (Coach Flores) told me 'Fitz' (Fitzpatrick) was going to get the job, he told me that I've made a lot of really good, steady upward progress. I think it's only time that this team is mine, but until then I'm going to be as supportive a backup as I can, and like I said, push him every single day."
Neither Rosen or Fitzpatrick played in the Dolphins' 16-13 win over the Saints.
Fitzpatrick has been the favorite to land the position throughout the preseason, but Rosen appeared to put on a late charge to land the job.
