The ex-Detroit Tigers closer pitched a scoreless inning today, striking out two and walking one in an extended spring training game vs. the Atlanta Braves. He will pitch Monday in one or two innings during a scrimmage, according to Fox Sports Detroit. Valverde is attempting a comeback with the team after his infamous postseason meltdown last October that cost him a spot on the major-league team. He was initially released but, during baseball's opening week, the Tigers re-signed him to a minor-league deal to see what's left from the 35-year-old.
