Jose Abreu exited Thursday night’s blowout loss early with a left ankle injury. Though the White Sox first baseman could be seen limping down the line several times, manager Robin Ventura downplayed any concerns about the severity. Abreu remained in the 12-5 loss to the Cubs until the bottom of the ninth inning when he was lifted for pinch hitter Marcus Semien. The White Sox said after the game Abreu injured his left ankle. He received treatment for the injury and was unavailable for comment. “He just seemed like he was limping a little bit tonight, that’s why in the end there I took him out,” Ventura said of Abreu. “He says he’s fine. He’s limping around a little bit, but he’ll be fine.
