Qua Boyd, a tight end from Jones County Junior College in Mississippi, has committed to UAB as part of the 2015 signing class. The 6-foot-5, 215-pound Boyd finished his freshman year at Jones County where he was listed as a quarterback, wide receiver and tight end. He's expected to play tight end at UAB and could also play inside receiver. He said he was recruited primarily by offensive coordinator Bryant Vincent and committed to UAB around 10 a.m. this morning. "He told me I would be a perfect fit for their offense," Boyd said. "I was looking on the website and saw how the classes work. He told me I'll be catching passes for them." Boyd estimated that he had 12 catches, one receiving touchdown as well as one passing touchdown and 11 rushing touchdowns as a wildcat quarterback. On special teams, he had five tackles, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery.
