After giving up six goals on Sunday, Detroit Red Wings goalie Jimmy Howard was supposed to have Monday night off as the Red Wings started backup Jonas Gustavsson in the second half of their back-to-back situation against the Vancouver Canucks. Howard ended up having to enter the game at the start of the second period after Gustavsson had to leave the game with what the team is calling "dizziness." Gustavsson, who has already missed time this season due to groin issues, stopped all eight shots he faced in the first period and did not appear to be on the receiving end of any contact or suffer an injury that would have resulted in dizziness.
