Aston Villa have completed a huge transfer coup as John Terry becomes Steve Bruce's first signing of the summer. Villa fought off competition from several Premier League clubs, including Bournemouth and West Brom, while Terry also had lucrative offers on the table from abroad. Terry, 36, was also a target for Villa's fierce rivals Birmingham City, but turned down the chance to play under Harry Redknapp at St Andrew's to don claret and blue. Owner Tony Xia confirmed the news on Twitter today, saying: "Welcome JT to Birmingham city...Aston Villa! UTV ! AVFCOfficial Announcement shortly!" The Birmingham Mail will be keeping you up to speed with all of the latest reaction as Terry arrives at the club.
