Buffalo Sabres enforcer John Scott has been suspended seven games by the NHL's Department of Player Safety for his hit to the head of Bruins forward Loui Eriksson last week. Scott had previously been suspended indefinitely while being extended an in-person hearing. He has already sat out three games and will the fourth on Thursday night when the Sabres play the Rangers. He's eligible to return on Nov. 8. Some were expecting Scott to have the book thrown at him im this case, more than seven games. But keep in mind that Scott had never faced any supplemental discipline before in his career. His status as a first-timer makes a seven-game suspension pretty stiff .
