New San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo met with the Bay Area media on Tuesday, a day after being acquired from the New England Patriots. With him on the podium were first-year 49ers general manager John Lynch and fellow rookie head coach Kyle Shanahan. In discussing the trade process that brought Garoppolo from the defending champs, Lynch had a rather interesting take. In short, he indicated that the 49ers “inquired” about Garoppolo with New England during the offseason, but were “shut down quickly.” Lynch also noted that trade talks prior to the season didn’t even get to the point where trade compensation was discussed.
