Cubs manager Joe Maddon said the chances of Kris Bryant starting Tuesday night against the Indians are “50-50.” Maddon said on his weekly radio segment on WSCR-AM 670’s “Bernstein and McKnight Show” that Bryant was “fine” but that he wanted to check with the slugger at Progressive Field, where the Cubs open a two-game series against the Indians. On Sunday, Bryant was hit by a 96 mph pitch by the Rockies’ German Marquez in the first inning and left the game with medical assistance.
