Joc Pederson wouldn’t divulge to reporters the meaning behind his “Pay me!” gesture during the Los Angeles Dodgers’ 3-1 victory over the Houston Astros Tuesday night in Game 6 of the World Series. The Dodgers outfielder hit a huge home run off Astros reliever Joe Musgrove during bottom of the seventh inning to stake the team a more comfortable 3-1 lead. As he approached first base, a jubilant Pederson hopped up and down before turning to the Dodgers dugout to say something along the lines of “Pay me my money!” When asked about the emphatic gesture after the victory that staved off elimination, Pederson wouldn’t reveal the nature of his joyful outburst. “Emotions run high,” Pederson said, via Deadspin. “You kind of black out in a situation like that, so I’m gonna have to re-watch it to see what I did.” One has to assume Pederson had some kind of side bet of some nature with a teammate over the at-bat.
