Michigan football head coach Jim Harbaugh has reportedly bolstered his talent evaluation department by hiring former San Francisco 49ers executive Tom Gamble. Tim Kawakami of The Athletic reported this news, which has yet to be confirmed by the school’s athletic department. Gamble and Harbaugh worked together during the coach’s tenure as head coach of the 49ers. During that time, Gamble served as the director of player personnel and the director of pro personnel, working under then general manager Trent Baalke. He also has served as the vice president of player personnel with the Philadelphia Eagles and has decades of experience evaluating talent at the professional level as a scout and executive.
