MLB.com's New Media Coordinator Jonathan Mael made what he himself later described as a "beyond inappropriate" comparison when he insulted Jets offensive lineman Oday Aboushi via Twitter Wednesday. Mael tweeted, via the Sporting News, "The @nyjets are a disgrace of an organization. The Patriots have Aaron Hernandez, the Jets have Oday Aboushi." The tweet was later deleted. Aboushi is Palestinian-American. Hernandez has been charged with murder in a case in Massachusetts. Mael's tweet comparing the Jets fifth round pick last year to the alleged murder appears to stem from a strange Yahoo! sports article. According to The Sporting News recount of Yahoo's story, Aboushi was vaguely connected to an anti-Semitic activist group in the article, but Aboushi was not quoted and was hardly mentioned in the piece, which has since been deleted. But Mael took to Twitter off the story. Aboushi wrote on Twitter Thursday evening, "Can't thank everyone enough for all the supportive and strong words! Continuing to hold my head high. Thank You!"
