The Jets had interest in Calvin Ridley. They talked to the Dallas Cowboys about Amari Cooper. They even almost pulled off a trade with the Kansas City Chiefs for Tyreek Hill.

GM Joe Douglas wasn’t kidding when he said he was "ready to strike" this offseason if he sensed a big opportunity. And if another No. 1 receiver suddenly becomes available, he’s ready to strike again.

While it’s unclear if any top receiver will suddenly hit the trade market, many around the league are keeping an eye on three good ones who could shake free – D.K. Metcalf of the Seattle Seahawks, the Tennessee Titan's A.J. Brown, and Brandin Cooks of the Houston Texans. They are all game-changing receivers heading into the last year of their contracts in an offseason where receiver salaries have absolutely exploded.

So far their teams are saying publicly they want to keep them. They’ve also told teams privately that none of them are available in trade.

But things can change quickly. And the Jets – who have at least inquired about all three of them, according to various league sources -- will be ready if they do.
