The Winnipeg Jets broke their three-game losing streak with a 2-1 shootout victory over the Dallas Stars Saturday night. Jets goalie Ondrej Pavelec had a huge game, stopping 36 shots and three more in the shootout. Jets captain Andrew Ladd scored the only goal of the shootout. It was an extremely entertaining overtime, with both teams getting good chances to score and both goaltenders coming up with big saves. The Jets outshot the Stars 6-2 in the extra period. Both Bryan Little and Zach Bogosian had chances to win it for the Jets while shorthanded in overtime. Little carried a puck in, held on and got a great shot from the slot and Bogosian made a tremendous move on a defenceman but couldn’t quite finish. The Jets did a good job of killing off the rest the penalty as goaltender Ondrej Pavelec made big saves and continued to do so through the overtime. The Jets got on the board first for just the third time this season when Evander Kane scored on a delayed penalty in the second period. Kane gloved down a rebound in the slot and ripped a low shot past Kari Lehtonen. The lead was deserved at that point as the Jets were heavily outshooting the Stars and carrying the play for the most part. Pavelec was solid for the first two periods as well, making 18 saves, many of the challenging variety.
