Jesse Lingard has called for Jadon Sancho to join Manchester United this summer.

Marcus Rashford has already urged the England winger to swap Borussia Dortmund for Old Trafford ahead of a concerted effort to land Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s top transfer target.

United are preparing to make their move for Sancho once they know if they have secured Champions League football next season.

Dortmund are adamant they will not accept less than £100million for the former Manchester City academy graduate, but United are reluctant to spend above £70m.

There remains hope a compromise can be reached, with Solskjaer determined to bolster his attack with the 20-year-old, who is believed to desire a move to United.

Lingard has no doubts about the quality he would bring, saying: “Jadon is a brilliant player. It is obviously up to him.

“I’ve seen him with England, I’ve seen his qualities and I feel like he’d be a great addition to any team.”

Lingard’s candid comments come after Rashford led the calls for Sancho to make the move.

The England striker said in April: “It would be good. Sancho’s a great player and he’s like a new generation player.

“It’s definitely exciting to watch him become the player he’s becoming.

“Hopefully we can all play together, that would be good.”
