Jerry West is as iconic as an individual as any in NBA history. “The Logo” is not only one of the greatest players ever, but he also one of the best executives the game has seen.
West has a brilliant track record in the front office, having drafted Kobe Bryant in 1996 while also signing Shaquille O’Neal that same summer. West provided the foundation that would lead to one of the most dominant dynasties in NBA history.
He also served as an executive board member for the Golden State Warriors from 2011-2017, reporting directly to owner Joe Lacob and proving to be instrumental in the decisions to draft Klay Thompson and Draymond Green in back-to-back years.
So it is notable when West says that he believes Ja Morant — and not Zion Williamson — is the best player in this upcoming draft class.
