The first domino has fallen for Jeff Saturday to end his NFL career with the Colts. The Green Bay Packers released the veteran center today. Saturday, 37, already has announced his plans to retire, ending his 14-year career. The anticipated next step is for him to sign a one-day contract with the Colts — perhaps sometime next month — enabling him to retire for the franchise that helped launch his decorated career in 1999. The Colts declined comment, but it’s believed only the timing of the one-day contract must be worked out. There have been no recent discussions between Saturday and team officials since Saturday has been under contract with the Packers. In a weekend interview with WRTV-6, Saturday said, “(Owner Jim) Irsay was always completely on board with that and had contacted me to do that. It just takes time to get things done.’’
