Right-hander Jeff Hoffman will start for the Colorado Rockies against the San Diego Padres while Tyler Anderson has been placed on the disabled list, according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today. The 23-year-old Hoffman has pitched in three games with the Rockies this season, starting two of them. Over 13.2 innings, he has gone 2-0 with a 3.29 ERA, allowing 10 hits while striking out 17 batters. He also lays claim to a sparkling 0.878 WHIP. Hoffman also threw eight times for Colorado in 2016, making six starts. The results weren’t so impressive, as he went 0-4 with a 4.88 ERA across 31.1 frames of work. He surrendered 37 hits, seven home runs and only fanned 22 hitters while walking 17. He ended up with an alarming WHIP of 1.723.
