JC Ramirez underwent an exam that showed continuing improvement of his damaged ulnar collateral ligament on Monday, leading the Angels to plan for him to resume light throwing next week. “Based on the band of outcomes we could have had, this was one of the more positive,” General Manager Billy Eppler said. Ramirez, a revelation in the Angels’ rotation in 2017, missed the final six weeks of the season and then underwent stem-cell therapy. He has undergone three ultrasound exams, each showing enough healing that the Angels are encouraged he can avoid surgery.
