Jayson Werth is on track to return on schedule, and perhaps sooner than expected, from the broken left wrist he suffered May 6, Manager Davey Johnson said today. Werth had planned to return in roughly 10 weeks from the injury, and Johnson said he could possibly come back in late July. Werth will undergo an X-ray in a couple weeks to check the progress of his wrist. Werth's surgery included the insertion of a metal plate and several screws to help the healing process. Johnson said Werth won't begin baseball activities until after the all-star break. "The good news is, the MASH troops are kind of coming around," Johnson said. "It's great, instead of seeing casts on their ankles and wrists, and tubes coming out of their stomachs. I come in there today, and everybody is walking around, in the weight room. It was nice. At about the midway point, we should have a lot of guys champing at the bit."
