The Toronto Blue Jays' injury situation might not improve until they open or get well into a 10-game homestand, starting Friday against the New York Yankees. Brett Lawrie was not in the lineup Wednesday against the hometown Tampa Bay Rays, the fourth consecutive game the third baseman has missed with tightness in his rib cage. The news appears even more discouraging for right-fielder Jose Bautista, who is expected to have another MRI test on his ailing left wrist before the end of Friday. Lawrie first hurt himself in a mid-July series at New York but played through the injury until it became unbearable at Oakland over the weekend.
