Chicago Cubs infielder Javier Baez could be on the trade market ahead of July 31st. While Kris Bryant seems to be the main name who could be on his way out of Wrigley, Baez to the Mets rumors are heating up after Francisco Lindor’s injury on Friday night.

Lindor left in the fifth inning with an apparent injury on his right side, but the severity of it isn’t quite known yet. However, if he does miss substantial time, the Mets could very well make a move for Baez to fill his spot at shortstop for the time being, according to Buster Olney:

As we know, Baez is versatile enough to play all over the infield. Once Lindor returns, he could either play the hot corner at times or give New York an extremely talented up-the-middle duo at second base.
