Grizzlies forward JaMychal Green is expected to undergo an MRI Thursday to assess the left ankle injury he suffered in their regular-season opening win over the New Orleans Pelicans. Green joined a list of key players around the NBA who got off on the wrong foot to start this season. “All the guys know what JaMychal means to our team on both ends of the court,” point guard Mike Conley said. “We responded. Everybody came in and did well. All you can do is pray and hope it’s a quick recovery and hope it’s not too serious. He’s in good spirits.” Green started and played just four minutes before fell to the floor after chasing a rebound. He landed on an opponent’s foot and then needed to be helped into the locker room. “At the end of the day you can’t wallow in that. That’s good adversity for us to have to be without him and if we have him we’ll be happy as heck,” Grizzlies coach David Fizdale said. “But we just take every situation as it is. We don’t weigh into if it’s good or bad, we just learn from it and keep moving forward. Next man up. I thought Jarell (Martin) handled it very well. He had a great preseason.” Green, a restricted free agent this summer, signed a two-year, nearly $17 million contract to return to Memphis.
