Greg Jamison's investment group is slated to finally close on its purchase of the Phoenix Coyotes hockey team, according to sources familiar with the deal. Two sources familiar with the deal told me today that Jamison's group will close the deal tomorrow, while another official said it will happen Thursday. The sale will keep the Coyotes in Glendale and end a three-year ownership saga involving the financially struggling franchise. It will also end the possibility of the franchise relocating to Seattle, Quebec City or another market. The purchase needs to happen before late Thursday for Jamison's group to take advantage of a $308 million, 20-year arena deal approved by the city of Glendale in November. The city has given Jamison until Jan. 31 to buy the team from the National Hockey League. Jamison has been pursuing the Coyotes since 2011 and already has the blessing of the NHL for the purchase.
